Chennai, Dec 20 (IBNS) : Ravindra Jadeja made the breakthrough for India by dismissing Alastair Cook to break the opening partnership of England in their second innings as the visitors were 103 for one in their second innings chasing the 282-run winning target on the fifth day of the last test match on Tuesday.

Cook was (49) was caught by Lokesh Rahl at leg slip off a Jadeja delivery which he looked to tuck to the fine leg.

His  partner Keaton Jennings (49) was joined by Joe Root.

Earlier, England had been doing well by surviving the entire morning session without losing a wicket and frustrating all efforts of the Indian bowlers. At lunch, England was 97 without loss with Cook and Jennings remaining unbeaten with 46 and 47 respectively.

While England had scored 477 in their first innings, India rattled up 759 for seven declared in reply.
