Hyderabad: Indian Premier League (IPL) team Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Saturday appointed West Indies great Brian Lara as the head coach of the franchise, ending the long term association with Tom Moody.

Taking to social media, the franchise said: "The cricketing legend Brian Lara will be our head coach for the upcoming IPL seasons."

"As his term with us draws to an end, we would like to thank Tom for his contributions to SRH. It has been a much cherished journey over the years, and we wish him the very best for future endeavours," SRH said in a statement.

Moody has been part of the SRH's coaching staff since its inception in 2013, except for one year. The team won one IPL 2016 under his guidance and were runners-up in 2018 . Besides, had reached the play-offs stage on four more occasions.

But, in the 2021 and 2022 edition the team's performances were lamentable, as they failed to reach the play-offs and finished in the bottom three.
