ICC’s Digital offering set to make #WT20 India 2016 the most engaging cricket event ever
The hub of all of these digital activities is the brand new official #WT20 website on www.icc-cricket.com. The website has been designed ‘mobile first’ for the first time ever and will give fans access to the same depth and scale of information whether they be on their smartphone, tablet or computer.
Building on the success of the award winning ICC digital programme, the website includes a brand new official ICC Match Centre which will have the fastest live scores available anywhere online. It will also feature the best of #WT20 social media content and provide real time statistics including all historical data from previous events to deliver in-depth and engaging match analysis to fans around the world. The Match Centre will also be available on the official tournament app.
The ever popular video section will contain short-form highlights of each match, including the best ‘must see’ parts of #WT20 - the magic moments, the best dismissals, the greatest pieces of fielding and of course the biggest hits, will be available for all to see. In addition to the match video content, the very best of ICC TV’s production will also be featured on digital to give fans the chance to watch back their favourite features; and there will be dedicated on the ground digital video coverage to give a flavour of the event from behind the scenes and around the grounds and cities across India.
The website will also feature previews, reviews, daily match reports, special features and regular columns from some greats of the game.
Other exclusive features on the official website are the ‘Twenty20 Vision’ vote which counts down the greatest moments from the previous five ICC World Twenty20 tournaments and the return of the hugely popular official ICC World Twenty20 Fantasy League which includes a special new daily #Super6 mode, making fantasy easier than ever to play. Every match day in the tournament, fans will be able to have their say on the best moment of the day by voting for their Nissan Play of the Day.
The Official ICC World Twenty20 India 2016 App aims to bring fans closer to the #WT20 action, whether they are on the ground in India or anywhere around the world. Building on the success of the ICC Cricket World Cup app from 2015, there will be access to live scores, in-match clips, fixtures, exclusive videos, real-time statistical updates and much more – all in the palm of their hand. The app is available for free download on the App Store or Google Play store, with downloads in their millions and an average 4+ rating showing its popularity.
Fantasy League
Following a launch on ‘Leap Day’ on February 29, fans have been eagerly signing up in their thousands to play the #WT20 edition of the official ICC Fantasy League. With a new design, easy to use gameplay and plenty of exclusive ICC merchandise and signed official prizes to win, #WT20Fantasy is the fun way to get involved with every match during the tournament. Participants are fans are given 1,000,000 credits to select their team of XI from the very best players in the world.
By earning points based on the performance of their players, fans will be able to compare their managerial skills with other managers from around the world in country-specific as well as global leagues. Additionally, fans can also register their own private league with their friends to determine who has the best #WT20Fantasy skills.
In addition to the official Fantasy League, tomorrow will see the launch of the #Super6 Daily Fantasy game which allows anybody to come and play for just one day and simply pick their 6 favourite players with no restrictions. You can also challenge your friends in #Super6 challenge mode.
#WT20 on Social Media
On Twitter, fans will be able to use the 3 newly launched #WT20 Twitter Emojis and there is a return of the ever popular Twitter Hashflags for all 16 teams. Fans will be able to get closer to the players on every TV match by getting a chance to ask the winning captain a question using the #AskCaptain which will then be asked during the post-match presentation.
ICC has also innovated with Twitter for cricket fans to get an exclusive tweet about their favourite players at the ICC World Twenty20 by simply Tweeting to @ICCLive with #WorldT20Heroes. Anyone can then try collect the tweets of all their favourite players.
On Facebook, fans of all 16 countries will be able to add a profile frame to their picture to show their support for their team. There will be Facebook Live coverage of the press conferences from over 50 matches during the tournament. Fans will also be given the chance to share their favourite moments of the tournament through composer prompts directly onto Facebook and there will be an exclusive cricket sticker pack which can be used on Facebook or Messenger.
Over on Instagram, fans will be able to see the #WT20SuperHeroes with amazing imagery designed up for some of the top cricketers in the world as 60 players in the tournament come into focus as they battle each other on Instagram to see who the most popular players are.
On Google+ and the ICC YouTube channel there will be the very best of the #WT20 content being featured alongside professional live coverage of all of the official post-match press conferences.
Exclusively hosted on ICC social media channels, the #WT20Daily will be presented by Mandira Lalvani. This daily show will feature the very best of the tournament both on and off the field, best of #WT20 content from social media, match clips and news.
