IPL 2024: Delhi Capitals outplay Chennai Super Kings by 20 runs despite Dhoni's fiery knock

Visakhapatnam/IBNS: Despite a late firing by Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Delhi Capitals managed to register their first win in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 outplaying Chennai Super Kings by 20 runs in Visakhapatnam on Sunday.

Chasing 192, CSK never looked comfortable in the run chase losing skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad and Rachin Ravindra within three overs.

Ajinkya Rahane (45 from 30 balls) and Daryl Mitchell (34 from 26 balls) tried to rescue the yellow brigade but their dismissals brought DC back in the game strongly.

Dhoni's unbeaten 37 from 16 balls, led by 4 fours and 3 sixes, must have delighted the fans but the innings was too late to bring a turnaround in the match in favour of CSK.

Earlier, riding on David Warner's 52 and skipper Rishabh Pant's 51 helped Delhi Capitals slam 191/5 in 20 overs despite hiccups in the middle overs.

Warner started off with his trademark shots leading CSK bowlers to run for the money but a spectacular catch by Matheesha Pathirana helped the yellow brigade to make a comeback.

Pant, who returned to cricket after a long time with this IPL, took 32 balls to score 51 with 4 fours and 3 sixes against his name.
