Jaipur/IBNS: Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samon has been fined for maintaining a slow over rate during a match against Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 on Wednesday.

As it was his team’s first offence of the season under the IPL's Code of Conduct relating to minimum over rate offences, Samson was fined Rs 12 lakhs.Β

Gujarat ended Rajasthans' unbeaten run in the IPL 2024, clinching a thrilling win by three wickets at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Wednesday.

With two needed off the last ball, Afghan allrounder Rashid Khan hit a boundary on Avesh Khan's delivery pulling off a thrilling victory for the visitors.

Rashid, who slammed 4 fours, remained unbeaten at 24 and took the game home after Rahul Tewatia was dismissed at the crucial time in the last over for 22.

Earlier, skipper Shubman Gill slammed 72 from 44 balls while Sai Sudarshan slammed 35 from 29 balls.

In the evening, Riyan Parag's 76 from 48 balls and skipper Sanju Samson's unbeaten 68 powered Rajasthan to 196/3 in 20 overs.

Despite the defeat, Rajasthan are still at the top of the points table with 8 points followed by Kolkata Knight Riders, Lucknow Super Giants and Chennai Super Kings in the top four.
