Mumbai/IBNS: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday announced the resumption of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season from May 17.

Following a temporary suspension, the tournament will now resume with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) hosting Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Bengaluru on Saturday.

The final will, however, be held on June 3 instead of May 25.

"The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is pleased to announce the resumption of the TATA IPL 2025. After extensive consultations with government and security agencies, and with all the key stakeholders, the Board has decided to proceed with the remainder of the season," the cricket body said in a statement.

A total of 17 matches will be played across 6 venues, starting May 17 and culminating in the final on June 3.

The revised schedule includes two double-headers, which will be played on two Sundays.

The playoffs are scheduled as follows: Qualifier 1 - May 29; Eliminator - May 30; Qualifier 2 - June 1; Final - June 3.

"The BCCI takes this opportunity to once again salute the bravery and resilience of India's armed forces, whose efforts have enabled the safe return of cricket. The Board reaffirms its commitment to national interest while ensuring the successful completion of the league," the statement said.

The 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) was suspended for one week on May 9 amid the escalation of military actions between India and Pakistan.

"The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to suspend the remainder of the ongoing TATA IPL 2025 with immediate effect for one week," Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Devajit Saikia had said.

The resumption of the tournament was announced after  India and Pakistan agreed that both sides will refrain from engaging in any aggressive action and no shots will be fired after the military operations chiefs of the two countries spoke on a hotline for the first time on Monday since the ceasefire.
