IPL: Kings XI Punjab beat CSK

Cuttack, May 7 (IBNS) It was a battle between two supreme power house in Indian Premier League (IPL) which ultimately went to Kings XI Punjab's favour as they defeated MS Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 44 runs here on Wednesday.

Posting a mammoth 231 for four on the scorecard, Kings bowlers restricted CSK to 187 for six in 20 overs.

Faf du Plessis  remained the top scorer for the side with his 52.

He hammered seven boundaries and a six in his 25-ball knock.

Brendon McCullum (33), Suresh Raina (35) and Dhoni (23) made some crucial contributions with their willows but they were not enough to reach the target.

McCullum 's run out was also a crucial point in changing the path of the match for CSK.

Mitchell Johnson picked up two wickets for Kings.

Kings earlier posted 231 on the scorecard.

The sides batting was all about IPL's this year's hero

Glenn Maxwell as he played another sensational knock of 90 runs off 38 balls to help his side post the target.

He was destructive in his 38-ball knock which included six boundaries and eight sixes.

He butchered the CSK's bowling lineup with his powerful batting.

David Miller (47), Virender Sehwag (30) and George Bailey (40) made some handy contributions with their willows.

Bailey entertained the spectators with his 13-ball 40.

Mohit Sharma picked up two wickets for CSK.
