IPL: Pune beat Kings XI Punjba, reach play-offs

Pune, May 14 (IBNS): On their home turf, Rising Pune Supergiant defeated Kings XI Punjab by nine wickets in an IPL clash to qualify for the playoffs of the tournament on Sunday.

Pune finished second in the points table with this victory.

After bowling out Kings for 73 runs, Pune batsmen reached 78 runs by losing one wicket.

Ajinkya Rahane (34) and Rahul Tripathi (28) nearly reached the target as they added 41 runs on the first wicket partnership.

After Tripathi departed, Steve Smith smashed 15 runs to reach the target.

Earlier, Punjab were bowled out for 73 runs.

Axar Patel remained the top scorer for the side with his 22.
