New York, Sept 8 (IBNS): Juan Martin del Potro cruised to the final of the  US Open by beating Spanish Tennis star Rafael Nadal here on Friday.

Potro, the Argentine star, was leading the match 7-6 (7-3) 6-2 when Nadal retired.

Nadal was forced to retire from the match due to knee injury.

He even needed medical attention twice, trying to recover from the situation.

"It was difficult for me to keep playing. I was in too much pain and it was not a tennis match," Nadal was quoted as saying by BBC.
