Kenyan runners win Chizhou International Marathon

Hefei (Xinhua/UNI) Kenya's Kiura Denis Mugendi and Cheptoo Beatrice claimed the men's and women's titles respectively at the 2019 Chizhou International Marathon in east China's Anhui Province on Sunday.

Kiura won the men's race in two hours 19 minutes 22 seconds, while his compatriot Cheptoo was victorious in the women's group in 2:46:23.


"It's my first time to be here. The city is very attractive and beautiful and the race is very well organized," said Kiura.


The event, which featured marathon, half-marathon and mini-marathon, attracted more than 14,000 runners from 10 countries and regions including China, Kenya, France, India, and Jamaica.
