Kidambi Srikanth, Parupalli Kashyap enter semi-finals of India Open

New Delhi, Mar 29 (UNI): Kidambi Srikanth after losing the first game made a come back and defeated Praneeth 21-23, 21-11, 21-19 to enter semifinal of the Yonex-Sunrise India Open Badminton Tournament here on Friday.

Apart from Srikanth, Parupalli Kashyap too advanced to semifinals by defeating Wang Tzu Wei.

Srikanth, took an hour to defeat Praneeth. After losing the first game, Srikanth made a great comeback and won the second game 21-11.

In the second game, Srikanth and Praneeth fought neck-to-neck until 9-9, but once Srikanth took a lead at 14-11, he went onto win seven consecutive points to level the match.

In the third game, Praneeth stayed in contention for a victory until 19-19, but thereafter Srikant held his nerve and wrapped up the match.

Kashyap performed brilliantly and took only 39 minutes to defeat Wang Tzu Wei. The 55th ranked Indian made his record 2-0 against Tzu Wei, who is ranked 32.

Kidambi Srikanth will face Huang Yuxiang in the semi-finals while Parupalli Kashyap will be up against the winner of the the quarter-final match between HS Prannoy and Viktor Axelsen.

In the women's doubles, the Indian pair of Ashwini Ponnappa and N Sikki Reddy suffered a 10-21, 18-21 loss to top seed Indonesian pair Gracia Polly and Apriyarani Rahu in 37 minutes.

Another Indian pair of Arpana Balan and Shruti Kepi also lost in the women's doubles quarter-finals with the second seed pair ofJongkolphan Kititharakul and Rawinda Prajongjai 8-21, 11-21 in 28 minutes.
