Kuldeep, Ashwin, Yashasvi shine in India's dominating start against England in Dharamsala

Winning the toss and electing to bat first, England were bowled out for India for only 218 runs.

Opener Zak Crawley was the only English batter to cross the 50-run mark. Crawley slammed 11 fours and 1 six to slam 79 from 108 balls.

The English opener, however, was lucky to survive a catch at short leg by Sarfaraz Khan who stood his ground for a review, but skipper Rohit Sharma negated his appeal. UltraEdge showed a minor spike but the blip didn't cost India a lot.

Crawley's knock nevertheless showed that the pitch was no rank turner, but enough for the spinners to get wickets in the second session, after having assisted the pacers in the first hour of the day's play with the openers getting beaten by Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj.

Kuldeep, who picked five wickets for 72 runs, extracted an appreciable turn from the track while Ravichandran Ashwin, who scalped four wickets on his 100th Test, probed the batter with his skidding balls.

Ravindra Jadeja no less either. He dealt a big blow by trapping Joe Root leg before as the star English batsman misread a slider.

These wickets turned the tables in India's favour, and Kuldeep capitalised on it and made life hell for English batsmen. Jonny Bairstow tried to come out of it and succeeded in hitting some runs around before sneaking a googly against Kuldeep.

In response, India took a ride on Yashasvi Jaiswal's aggressive 57 from 58 balls and skipper Rohit Sharma's unbeaten half century helped India to score 135/1 in quick time.

Along with Rohit, who is batting at 52, Shubman Gill (26 not out) will take the crease on the second day of the final Test on Friday.

India have already taken an unbeatable 3-1 lead in the five-match series.
