Segovia/Kolkata, Sept 4 (IBNS): Atlético de Kolkata won their first friendly match against Gimnástica Segoviana CF U-19 team at the Los Angeles de San Rafael ground in El Espinar, Segovia, Spain.

The match which saw as many as nine goals scored by Atlético de Kolkata was exciting to the core as ISL Champions bettered the score line by 9-0 this time breaking their record of 6-0 from last year’s practice game when these two teams met.

All new signings for Atlético de Kolkata scored goals and forward Ian Hume and Marquee player Helder Postiga stole the show with five goals between them. Jewel Raja who was selected from the ISL draft this year also scored a goal. Spanish recruit Gavilán scored one goal and Valdo and Arata Izumi scored one each during the match.

“We are just at the beginning of our preparations for the second season of ISL. The match provided an opportunity for the support staffs to observe where the fitness levels of each player stand at the moment and I am happy with the progress each player is making at the moment. These friendly matches will help the footballers interact with each other and gel as an unit prior to the season," said Antonio Lopez Habas, Head Coach, Atlético de Kolkata.
