Most expensive buy on Day 1 of IPL auction: Mumbai Indian picks up Ishan Kishan for Rs 15.25 crore

Bengaluru: Indian cricketer Ishan Kishan emerged as the  most expensive buy so far after Mumbai Indian bought him for Rs 15.25 crore on the first day of the Indian Premier League auction here on Saturday.

Players like David Miller, Suresh Raina, Shakib Al Hasan and Steve Smith on Saturday have gone unsold, but it is not the end of the road for them in the ongoing mega 2022 IPL Auction.

The unsold players can be bid by franchises again after the main auction draws to a close.

On Sunday, the unsold players can be picked up throughout the categories in the accelerated auction.

If players are still non purchased at the end of Day 2 of the auction, they still stand a chance of being purchased from the pool if they want to replace any of their players in view of injury or sickness.

They can also be hired by teams to fill up practice teams for the main squad.

The last IPL auction saw 241 players unsold at the end of the auction.

This year, with two additional teams of Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans, the number is expected to be much lower.
