MS Dhoni turns 36, teammates shower wishes on captain cool

Dhoni, who started his career back in December 2004, has achieved several feats being the captain as well as the wicket keeper-batsman of the national side. India won a 50 overs and one T20 World Cup under his captaincy and also reached the top spot in test ranking.

Yuvraj Singh, who shared innumerable partnerships with the former skipper on field in last ten odd years, left a beautiful message for him. In a tweet, he said: "Many happy returns of the day to Mr. Helicopter @msdhoni have a great day buddy, the cake awaits you #happybirthday #cakesmash."

Dhoni is currently in a tour to West Indies to play the limited overs cricket for India.

Another batsman who is currently not a part of the national side but shared a World Cup winning partnership with Dhoni in the finals of 2011, Gautam Gambhir, also wished him on this day.

"Happy Birthday @msdhoni Give my regards to the family. God bless" he said on his Twitter handle.

Gambhir and Dhoni made a big partnership in 2011 World Cup final to rescue the team from a tough position to win the title for the second time.

Gambhir's once opening partner Virender Sehwag, left a message in his own witty style. Like Yuvraj, he too acclaimed the helicopter shot of Dhoni, which has become his signature strike.

"To a man who has given Indian fans innumerable moments of joy,#HappyBirthdayMSD  May the helicopter continue to fly and land in our hearts" the former Indian opening batsman said.

Mohammed Kaif posted a picture that provides a glimpse of young Dhoni with long hairs, when he was just a wicket keeper batsman.

He captioned the picture saying:"Happy Birthday to a legend of the game @msdhoni .Thank you for all that you have done and wish you the best in life."

Apart from teammates, actor Sushant Singh Rajput, who played the role of Dhoni in a biopic MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, dedicated one of his dancing performance to the former skipper. "Happy birthday My Captain.This coming #FeminaMissIndia performance is dedicated to you.There's No one like u MahendraJi' he said.

Dhoni played his debut match in 2004 against Bangladesh but failed to get a good start as he was dismissed without scoring. Later against Pakistan in home series, Dhoni was promoted up in the batting order and he grasped the opportunity in both hands. In that match he scored his maiden hundred and later he played several match winning knocks for India.

In 2007 maiden T20 World Cup, he was named the captain of the national side as senior players skipped the tournament. Eventually his captaincy led India to the World Cup victory. Since then his career graph kept on getting higher and achieved one feat after the other. He last time captained India in January 2017.

The former skipper won the ICC player of the year for ODI back to back in 2008 and 2009. He has already retired from test cricket.
