Narendra Modi speaks to Tokyo Olympics silver medalist Mirabai Chanu, congratulates her

New Delhi: Indian PM Narendra Modi on Saturday spoke to silver medalist Mirabai Chanu and congratulated her over the Tokyo Olympics achievement.

"Prime Minister @narendramodi spoke to the remarkable @mirabai_chanu and congratulated her on winning the Silver Medal at @Tokyo2020 . He wished her the very best for her future endeavours. #Tokyo2020," PMO India tweeted.

Registering India's first medal in Tokyo Olympics 2020, weightlifter Mirabai Chanu has won a silver in the women's 49 kg category.

China's Zhihu Hou clinched gold.

Chanu lifted the 49 kg and 87 kg successfully but failed to lift 89 kg placing herself at the second spot while Zhihu lifted 94 kg to clinch the top position.
