Pakistani selectors ignore Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan in Asia Cup squad

Pakistani selectors on Sunday named the Asia Cup squad, where senior stars like Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan failed to find a place.

The UAE will host the tournament next month.

It will be played in a T20 format this year, ahead of the World T20.

Salman Agha has been named as the skipper of the Pakistani squad.

The tournament will be played from September 9 to September 28.

Pakistan has named a 17-member squad for the tournament.

The eight-nation tournament will be staged in  Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

Pakistan are placed in Group ‘A’ alongside India, Oman and UAE.

Salman Ali Agha (captain), Abrar Ahmed, Faheem Ashraf, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Hasan Nawaz, Hussain Talat, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Haris (wicket-keeper), Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Waseem Jnr, Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub, Salman Mirza, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Sufyan Moqim.

ACC Asia Cup T20 2025 (Pakistan fixtures, Super Fours and Final):

12 September – Oman v Pakistan, DICS, 6pm local time

14 September – India v Pakistan, DICS, 6pm local time

17 September – UAE v Pakistan, DICS, 6pm local time

20-26 September – Super Fours fixtures (Abu Dhabi and Dubai)

28 September – Final, DICS, 6pm local time
