Pune, Apr 5 (IBNS) Pune FC, the city's first professional football club, and Pro Kabaddi League side Puneri Paltan have joined hands for a unique first-of-its-kind association to celebrate the city's fast developing appetite for sport.

The idea to “support each other,” is aimed at bridging gap between fans and revolves around encouraging its followers to variety. Moreover, since both teams are committed to sport professionally, the best way to initiate cross interest of sport was a tie-up. Both sports teams who have a loyal fan base in city have now come together with a common goal – to promote sport among masses.

While both sides share the same home ground – Balewadi Sports Complex – they also connect with a sense of belonging to the city by sporting ‘Pune’ respectively.

Speaking about the association, Chirag Tanna, Pune FC Head Operations, said, “We are excited to tie-up with Puneri Paltan – a top side in the Pro Kabaddi League. Together, we hope to reach out to sport enthusiasts in Pune and promote all kinds of sports including Football and Kabaddi.”

Kailash Kandpal, Team Director of Puneri Paltan explained, “Football and Kabaddi have commonalities - the display of power and stamina blended with tactics, the element of attack and defense. Now, with this tie-up we extend the commonality to encompass the common sports fans. It is indeed a pleasure to join hands with Pune FC and we are confident that our association will help us reach out to a significant base of sports enthusiasts in the city of Pune."

The aim of the tie-up is to create the synergy between sports and ensure impetus is given to sport and derive combined success. As part of the tie-up, both teams will actively participate in each-other’s events, promotional activities and lend their players for matches throughout the year.

Both Pune FC and Puneri Paltan believe that fans drive sporting events popularity and thus this association. Moving forward, both teams have decided to commemorate their association at Pune FC’s I-League clash against Salgaocar FC at the Balewadi Stadium.

While jersey exchange is on cards to mark the event, the Puneri Paltan squad will be on hand to cheer their partners Pune FC during their game against Goan side Salgaocar FC which kicks off at 7.00pm on Tuesday, April 7th.
