Ranji: Jammu and Kashmir beat Mumbai

Mumbai, Dec 10 (IBNS) Jammu and Kashmir Cricket team stunned Mumbai by clinching a historic four-wicket win in the Ranjhi Trophy 2014-15 match.

J&K team defeated 40 time champions at the famous Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Wednesday.

The J&K team scored 254, 237/6 while Mumbai could only score 236, 254, leading to the win by 4 wickets in 69.2 overs.

Shubham Khajuria scored 78, Hardeep Singh remained unbeaten on 41 while skipper Parvez Rasool scored a quick fire 32.

Jammu and Kashmir needed 179 runs on the final day with just one wicket down to cause a major upset in the history of the tournament.

Talking to IBNS over phone from Mumba, captain of the team Pervaiz Rasool said, this win is for Jammu and Kashmir.

He said "this was our first match, in upcoming matches this winning performance will continue."

"Team players also coordinated with each other and played very well," Rasool said

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah congratulated the team.

"Well done to the J&K cricket team, beat Mumbai at the Wankhede stadium," Omar tweeted.
