Mumbai/IBNS: A late cameo from Harshal Patel and his senior partner Dinesh Karthik helped Faf du Plessis' Royal Challengers Bangalore to pull off a narrow victory by three wickets in a low scoring thriller of the 15th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) here on Wednesday.

Chasing a mere target of 129, Bangalore started off poorly losing three wickets including skipper Faf and star batsman Virat Kohli within three overs.

Though David Willey and Sherfane Rutherford tried to build the innings, the former was removed by Sunil Narine, who is known for giving breakthroughs to his team, reducing the south Indian team to 62/4 in 11 overs.

Though Shahbaz Ahmed was looking poised, he was sent back to the dugout by Varun Chakaravarthy in the 16th over.

The two wickets picked by Kiwi bowler Tim Southee in the 18th over gave Kolkata a hope, which was demolished by Dinesh Karthik's seven-ball 14 and Harshal Patel's six-ball 10.

Earlier, Kolkata being unable to stitch any solid partnership were bowled out for 128 in 18.5 overs.

Andre Russell, whose contribution helped Kolkata to cross the 100-mark, was the top scorer for the team with his 25 off 18 balls.

Wanindu Hasaranga was the best bowler for Bangalore with his 4/20 in four overs.
