Rockstar Games releases GTA 6 trailer after online leak

| @indiablooms | Dec 06, 2023, at 06:48 am

After a low-quality copy of the Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA VI) game appeared online, its developer Rockstar Games decided to publish the trailer 15 hours before the scheduled release to give fans a first look at the highly anticipated game, media reports said.

The 90-second teaser confirmed the game will be set in Vice City, an homage to Miami, and feature a female protagonist, Lucia, for the first time since the 1990s, BBC reported.

But the wait continues, as the game isn't due to be released until 2025.

The game's publisher, Take-Two Interactive, has revealed that GTA 6 will come out on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X when it comes out in 2025.

No other details have been made public regarding the date of release or about a possible PC version, though if it follows the same path as the previous games in the series--one will come out on the platform several months after the others.

“Grand Theft Auto VI heads to the state of Leonida, home to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and beyond, in the biggest, most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet,” Rockstar said in a press release.

The newest main game in the series will be a follow-up to 2013's critically acclaimed GTA V, which went on to become the second-best-selling video game of all time, behind only Minecraft.

For the past ten years, there have been countless rumours and leaks about GTA VI. In November, the company's indication that a trailer would be released soon, which was just a confirmation and not the actual announcement of the release, triggered headlines around the world as eager fans looked for any details about the game.

In a separate development, Rockstar has announced that it has inked a deal with online streaming giant Netflix to bring many of its titles to the streaming service provider's gaming offering, said BBC.

GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas—the titles loved by gamers across the world—will be made accessible to Netflix subscribers on their mobile devices starting December 14.
