Rohit Sharma backs Indian team after first innings collapse
Mumbai, Aug 11 (IBNS): Indian player Rohit Sharma on Saturday hit back at people criticising Indian team after they were bowled out for 107 runsi in the first innings of the second Test match against England
He urged Indians to support the team.
"Let’s not forget these are the players who got India to the number 1 ranking. How about being little supportive when the going gets tough. This is our team," Sharma tweeted.
Leading the English bowling unit on Friday, James Anderson powered his team to reduce India to a humiliating total of 107 in the first innings of the second Test match at Lord's here.
Winning the toss, England asked India to bat first and the hosts were right on top of the game from the first over by sending opening batsman Murali Vijay back to pavilion for a duck.
The Indian batting unit seemed that they didn't move on from the first Test match as their poor performance with willow continued even at Lord's.
In another day of batting collapse, it was all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin who scored the highest runs (29 off 38) for India.
Anderson, who unnerved India, picked five wickets for 20 runs in 13.2 overs. Chris Woakes picked two wickets while the rest two Indian wickets were shared by Stuart Broad and Sam Curran.
With the end of the Indian innings, the rain-interrupted second day's play was also called off by the umpires.
The first day of the match was washed away due to rain on Thursday.
On day three, England are currently batting at 135 for the loss of five wickets..
