Rohit Sharma to miss Sydney Test, will join ODI squad on Jan 8: BCCI
Mumbai, Dec 31 (IBNS): Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma has left for Mumbai on Sunday to attend to his wife who has delivered a baby girl.
Sharma was playing the ongoing Test series for India in Australia.
India are currently leading the series 2-1.
He will not be playing in the Sydney Test, confirmed the Indian cricket board.
Sharma will instead join the ODI squad on Jan 8.
"India batsman Rohit Sharma left for Mumbai on the 30th of December to attend to his wife who has delivered a baby girl. The BCCI congratulates Rohit on the beginning of a new chapter in his life," read a statement issued by the BCCI.
"Rohit will miss the fourth and the final Test against Australia at Sydney. There will be no replacement player in the Test squad," said the statement.
