Royal Challengers Bangalore wins by 10 runs despite Russell, Rana scare

Kolkata, Apr 19 (UNI): Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by 10 runs in yet another thriller at VIVO IPL play at Eden Gardens on Friday night.

Batting first RCB scored a commanding 213/4 and in reply, KKR were restricted to 203/5 in 20 overs.

Moeen Ali held his nerve and managed to restrict Andre Russell and Nitish Rana in the final over when KKR needed 24 runs from 6 balls to win.

Dale Steyn got RCB off to the perfect start with two wickets in the first six overs.

This came after Virat Kohli’s knock of 100 runs from 58 balls helped RCB post 213/4 in 20 overs.

Virat Kohli scored a brilliant hundred to help his side put up a fighting total. KKR stuttered in the run-chase initially but came back with Andre Russell (65 off 25 balls) and Nitish Rana (85 off 46 deliveries).

However, the target proved a bit too much at the end. Royal Challengers Bangalore will be happy with the win after seeing seven defeats in eight outings as it keeps their playoff hopes alive. To make the playoffs, KKR need to win at least four of their remaining five matches, of which two are at home.

Earlier, Moeen Ali’s innings of 66 runs from 28 balls had put RCB on course for a big total in this match.
