Sania Mirza recommended for Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna

New Delhi, Aug 1 (IBNS): Indian Tennis icon Sania Mirza has been recommended for the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award, media reports said on Saturday.

Sania and her doubles partner Martina Hingis won the Wimbledon women's doubles title this year.

She is the current number one player in doubles.

In her twitter page, Sania said: " Thank you ."

This is India’s highest honour given for achievement in the field of sports.
