Shooter Abhinav Bindra named India's Goodwill Ambassador
New Delhi, Apr 29 (IBNS): Indian shooting icon Abhinav Bindra on Friday accepted the Indian Olympic Associations' offer to become India's Goodwill Ambassador for the upcoming Rio Olympics.
Bindra tweeted: "I am humbled that they thought I am worthy enough for this honour. I respectfully accept this with gratitude."
He said: "I have lived my life for the OG &have always done my best to work for the betterment of the Olympic movement in India &I will continue."
He said:"While my focus will be to perform at Rio,I will be writing to every member of the Indian Olympic team &offering them any help they may want."

Bindra said every Indian Olympian is a champion in his or her own right.
"Every Indian Olympian is a champion in his or her own right I would just be sharing my experiences with them!" he said.
"I would be open to doing this until the 15 th of July &after that my focus will completely be towards my own performance until my event," Bindra said.
He urged Indians to support the Indian players who will participate in the Olympics this year.
The IOA had earlier triggered a controversy by naming Bollywood superstar Salman Khan as the Goodwill Ambassador of India's Rio Olympics contingent.
The movie was criticised by several Indian sports icons.
"Every Indian Olympian is a champion in his or her own right I would just be sharing my experiences with them!" he said.
"I would be open to doing this until the 15 th of July &after that my focus will completely be towards my own performance until my event," Bindra said.
He urged Indians to support the Indian players who will participate in the Olympics this year.
