Shrikrishna wins his maiden national title

Kolkata, Jan 5 (IBNS): S. Shrikrishna, a 14-year-old player from Tamil Nadu, won his maiden National Title at the BRC Gloster National Billiards & Snooker Championship 2015. In the Sub-Junior Billiards final played at the Bengal Rowing Club, he defeated the Top Seed, Ishpreet Chadha of Maharashtra.

At the end, the scoreline read: 326 (54, 55) - 283 (52).

From the outset, Shrikrishna played an attacking game. Starting off from a cannon, he made the first break of 54 points. However, after a few visits, Ishpreet countered that and made a break of 52 points, but once again Shrikrishna exhibited excellent shots and made another break of 55 points.

After that Shrikrishna maintained his lead, and kept scoring at regular intervals to get closer to the national title.

Finally, the timer rang and Shrikrishna became the National Champion of the Sub-Junior Billiards category for the year 2015.

SUB-JUNIOR SNOOKER:

Shivam Parashar from Haryana beat Gujarat's player Raghav Agarwal 2-1 in a very exciting Round of 32 match in Sub-Junior Snooker category.

Shivam Parashar had no problem in winning the first frame, but he lost the second frame by a narrow margin (49-57) and landed into the decider.

In the decider, Raghav gave him a very tough fight and was leading by 8 points with all colour balls on table. At that stage, Shivam planted a challenging snooker, which awarded him 12 points and lead over Raghav.

However, Raghav tried to pull the match but couldn't succeed and Shivam potted all colour balls till pink in couple of visits and moved into Last 16 stage.

In the Junior Billiards main round which started on Monday, Ishpreet Chadha of Maharashtra reached the Pre-quarters after getting a walkover from Tanurag Gautam of Chandigarh.

Jagadesh B. of Tamil Nadu registered an easy win over Rishab Gulati of Delhi 432-138. Jagadesh made two breaks of 50 and 68 points.
