New Orleans/IBNS: A Sugar Bowl between two US college football teams has been postponed after the New Orleans attack that killed 15 people, media reports said.

The match between Notre Dame and University of Georgia has been postponed until Thursday.

Sugar Bowl chief executive Jeff Hundley said, as quoted by BBC News, the committee was "devastated by the terrible events". "Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families."

"We are in ongoing discussions with authorities on the local, state, and federal levels and will communicate further details as they become available," he added.

Fifteen people were killed and at least 35 others were injured after a truck rammed into a crowd which was celebrating New Year in New Orleans on January 1.

A 42-year-old truck driver, who flew the ISIS flag while ramming into the crowd, has been identified as US Army veteran Shamsud-Din-Jabbar.

Jabbar, a resident of Texas who had served the US Army in Afghanistan, was shot by police soon after he rammed the vehicle into the crowd, is assumed to be not alone in carrying out the incident.

"The FBI is the lead investigative agency, and we are working with our partners to investigate this as an act of terrorism. We are aggressively running down all leads to identify any possible associates of the subject," the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) said in a statement.
