Sumit Nagal moves into singles semis of ATP Challenger

Chandigarh, Sept 14 (UNI): Sixth seeded India's Sumit Nagal continued his good form and demolished the challenge of fourth seeded Federico Coria of Argentina in the singles quarter-final and to enter the semi-final of € 48,600 Challenger Tennis Tournament at Banja Luka (Bosnia & Herzegovina).

Sumit who had a dream start in the Grand Slam US Open 2019 and played against legendary Roger Federer, thrashed his opponent in straight sets by 6-2, 7-5 on Friday.

He won five out of nine break points while Coria won two break points out five. In semi-final, Sumit Nagal who hails from Jhajjar (Haryana) will meet fifth seed Filip Horansky of Slovakia for a berth in the final.

In an another contest, Ramanathan Ramanathan, partnering Hugo Grenier of France, were beaten by Andrey Golubev and Aleksandr Nedovyesov of Kazakhstan in straight sets 6-4, 6-2 in doubles semi-final match in the $81,240 ATP Challenger Tennis Tournament in Istanbul on Friday.

Grenier/Ramanathan saved six break points out of 10 and won one break point which they faced in the 65-minute tussle. Golubev/Nedovyesov won four out of 10 break points.

Grenier/Ramanathan team earned $1620 and 33 points.
