Suspect arrested after Australian women cricketers molested in Indore

Two Australian women cricketers, who are currently playing in India, were allegedly stalked and molested by a bike-borne man in Madhya Pradesh's Indore recently, media reports said.

The suspect was arrested on Friday in connection with the incident, which occurred on Thursday morning near Khajrana Road, an official told News18.

Sub-Inspector Nidhi Raghuvanshi told the India news channel that the two cricketers had left their hotel and were walking towards a cafe when a man on a motorcycle started following them.

She said the accused allegedly touched a cricketer inappropriately and fled from the scene.

The cricketers immediately informed their team security officer, Danny Simmons, about the issue, who instantly contacted the local security liaison officers.

A vehicle was soon arranged for the cricketers.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Himani Mishra later met the two players, recorded their statements, and registered a First Information Report under sections 74 (use of criminal force to outrage a woman’s modesty) and 78 (stalking) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the MIG police station, the news channel reported.

An eyewitness noted down the number of the motorcycle, which helped the police in arresting the suspect.

“Khan has previous criminal cases against him, and the investigation is underway," Mishra told News18.
