This ex-Indian cricketer believes Sanju Samson can be next T20 skipper

Former Indian batsman Mohammad Kaif feels that opener Sanju Samson can serve as the next Indian captain in the shortest format after his electrifying performance in the T20 World Cup.

Samson slammed three consecutive half-centuries in the T20 World Cup, including the all-crucial final against New Zealand, which played a major role for the hosts to lift the showpiece tournament for the third time.

Samson had captained Rajasthan Royals in Indian Premier League.

"It is very tough to say who can become the T20 captain right now. However, Samju Samson could be the one," Kaif told  Ravish Bisht in a video.

"I feel a person who has seen the world can become a captain," he said.

He said a captain should know the art of performing the perfect bowling change, playing the perfect XI and backing out of form players.

"If Surya decides to step down from his position in future, then Sanju can obviously fit into his shoes," Kaif said.

Sanju Samson scripted a memorable comeback after battling poor form and exclusion from the playing XI.

Having lost his place to Ishan Kishan, Sanju returned strongly when the team needed someone to fire at the top in front of off-spin attack.

Sanju remained the third-highest run-getter of the tournament, scoring 321 runs.
