New Delhi/IBNS: The Union ministry of culture Tuesday announced the e-auction of the historic fence of CA Bhavani Devi, the first Indian woman fencer to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics and win the first match.

Bhavani Devi had gifted the same fence to Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a felicitation ceremony organised to honour the players who participated in the games.

"The historic fence which is now the pride of the country can be yours and you can cherish that moment forever. This fence has been included in the e-auction of gifts and mementos received by Prime Minister Narendra Modi," the ministry of culture said in a release.

People interested to own the fence can participate in the e-auction at pmmementos.gov.in/ till October 7.

In 2019, too, the gifts received by the Prime Minister had been auctioned and earned the government Rs 15.13 crore, the ministry said.

Like the previous auction, the proceeds of the current auction will be deposited in the 'NamamiGangeKosh' to make Ganga clean and pure, it said.
