Tokyo Olympics: Domino's will deliver free pizzas to Mirabai Chanu; starts with her family in Imphal

Mirabai Chanu will have free pizzas for life, thanks to Domino's India. The multinational pizza chain responded to the weightlifter, who said in an interview to NDTV after winning silver in 49 kg category on July 24 that pizza was the first thing she wanted to eat.

Domino's India retweeted the video with the announcement that Chanu will receive pizzas for life free of cost.

They tweeted: "Congratulations on bringing the medal home! You brought the dreams of a billion+ Indians to life and we couldn’t be happier to treat you to FREE Domino’s pizza for life. Congratulations again!!"

"What is common between India's Olympic medal Second place medaland everytime you say you'll just have one of pizza ? "It's just the first of manyyyyy," dominos_india tweeted.

As a token of appreciation for Chanu's incredible feat, Domino's delivered pizzas to her family in Imphal.

"We are elated that we could share this wonderful moment with @mirabai_chanu's loved ones. She brought a smile to a billion+ faces, our Domino's Imphal Team brought a small token of appreciation to celebrate the success with her family. #MirabaiChanu #Olympics #Olympics2021," Domino's India tweeted, sharing the moment with the fans.

Chanu lifted a total of 202 kg Chanu 202 kg (87kg in snatch and 115kg in clean and jerk) during her four successful attempts in the competition.

"My dream of winning the medal has been achieved. I learned after my defeat in the Rio Olympics, changed my technique, and worked hard," said Chanu in a virtual press conference organised by the Sports Authority of India (SAI).

"My win will change things for sure as in weightlifting not many girls participate. After this, I want every girl to take weightlifting as a sport. In further tournaments, I want there should be maximum participation from the girls. I feel now more girls will take up the sport of weightlifting," she added.
