Tokyo Olympics: India beat Japan 5-3 in Pool A clash, cement place in quarter-finals

Tokyo: India defeated Japan 5-3 in a crucial Men's Pool A match of the Tokyo Olympics here on Friday.

The victory against the hosts of the mega sports event ensured India  a second-place finish in Pool A and cement their place in the quarter-finals round.

For India, Gurjant Singh (17th, 56th), Harmanpreet Singh (13th), Shamsher Singh (34th) and Nilakanta Sharma (51st) scored goals to ensure the third straight win.

Australia topped the chart with four wins and a draw.

It was the only Australian team that defeated India in the pool round 7-1 earlier this week.
