UK man arrested for 'racially abusing' footballer Antoine Semenyo, later granted conditional bail
A 47-year-old Liverpool man was arrested and later released on bail after he allegedly racially abused Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo during the opening match of the Premier League season at Anfield.
Confirming the incident, Merseyside Police said in a statement: "We can confirm that a man has been conditionally bailed after he was arrested following reports that racist abuse was directed towards Bournemouth player Antoine Semenyo."

"A 47-year-old man from Liverpool was arrested on Saturday 16 August on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence," the statement said.
The man has been banned from all football stadiums in the country.
"He has now been bailed with conditions, which includes not to attend any regulated football match in the UK and not to go within one mile of a designated football stadium," police said in the statement.
Police said an investigation into the incident, which occurred during a Premier League match between Liverpool and Bournemouth at Anfield on August 15, remains ongoing.
Reacting to the incident, the footballer wrote on Facebook: "I just want to take a moment to sincerely thank everyone, my amazing teammates, supportive friends, and all those who reached out with kind words and encouragement. Your support means more than I can put into words. Whether it was a message, a call, or simply being there, it truly made a difference. I'm incredibly grateful to be surrounded by such a thoughtful and uplifting community."
