UN severs ties with Sharapova

New York City, Mar 16 (IBNS) Tainted Russian tennis star Maria Sharapova, who has been suspended from professional tennis by the sport's global governing body post her admission of consuming banned performance enhancing substances, received another jolt as the United Nations removed her as their goodwill ambassador, according to reports.

Sharapova had recently admitted that she was under the influence of meldonium, a drug she took and was tested positive.

Post her confession, several top-tier brands , including Nike, Porsche and Tag Heuer have severed ties with the tennis ace.

Her 30 million USD yearly merchandise is set to take a hit by the series of omissions.
