Vijender Singh beats Chinese opponent Zulpikar Maimaitiali, clinches WBO Asia Pacific Super Middleweight

Mumbai, Aug 6 (IBNS): Indian boxing sensation Vijender Singh defeated China's Zulpikar Maimaitiali to win the WBO Asia Pacific Super Middleweight here on Saturday.

In a tough 10-round battle, the Indian fighter defeated his Chinese opponent by a unanimous decision.

This was his ninth consecutive bout victory.

Apart from the WBO Asia Pacific Super Middleweight, Vijender also claimed the Oriental title.

Zulpikar suffered first defeat in his professional career, reports said.

Speaking about his Chinese opponent, Vijender was quoted by media: "I didn't expect him to fight so well and last the distance."

After the win, eminent people across the fields took to Twitter to wish Vijender.

Former cricketer Mohammad Kaif said:"Congratulations @boxervijender on yet another victory. Looked like the best match of your pro-boxing career. Superbly done #BattleGroundAsia."

Actors Randeep Hooda tweeted to say: "Heading to watch #BattleGroundAsia Bohra at #Nscui in Mumbai.. kick ass wala #AllTheBest to @boxervijender @Akhilkumarboxer @imboxerjitender."

Another Bollywood actor, Abhishek Bachchan said:"Congratulations @boxervijender.!! You make us all very proud! #JaiHind."

However, Vijender dedicated his win towards the peace and harmony between India and China, amid the political turmoil between the two countries.

"Want to dedicate this victory towards peace and harmony between India and China! Jai hind " the boxer tweeted.
