Virat Kohli reacts to Pandya-Rahul row, says players don't align with views

Sydney, Jan 11 (IBNS): Reacting to the controversy generated by the alleged sexist comment by Indian cricketers Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul, skipper of the national team, Virat Kohli, said players do not align with such statements, media reports said.

Kohli referred to the sexist comments, which were made by Pandya and Rahul at director-producer-actor Karan Johar's chat show Koffee with Karan, as personal ones.

He has been quoted by NDTV, "We as the Indian cricket team and responsible cricketers don't align with those views, those were individual opinions. We are still waiting for a decision to be made."

What did Pandya, Rahul say?

When Karan asked Pandya why he doesn't ask for women's names at night clubs, the all-rounder said: "It is so much to talk man, so how can I remember the name also sometimes. It's so loud."

When the host insisted on what does the cricketer talks about, Pandya said: "Its not talking..Its watching and just observing how they move.....I am little from black side so I have to see how they move first...."

Both Pandya and Rahul talked about their sex lives. Rahul shared an experience of how he was caught with a condom by his mother.

Explaining how he is frank with his family, Pandya said: "My family I have been like I am open about everything. When I lost my virginity, I told my parents that aj kar ke aaya (I did it today)." (sic)

"There was a party when my parents were sitting and they were asking tera wala kaun kaun hai (which girls are yours). I actually sat with them and said yeh yeh and yeh (this, this and this girl)...and my parents said wah, wah proud of you beta (son)," Pandya added.

Pandya, Rahul may face ban:

With the recommendation of a two-match ban coming from Committee of Administrators (CoA) chairman Vinod Rai for the two cricketers, Kohli said the team for the first One Day International (ODI) match against Australia will be decided once the final decision by the cricket board is taken. The first ODI will be played on Saturday.

"From the Indian cricket team's point of view, this changes nothing in our beliefs in the change room, it does nothing to the spirit we have have been able to create. Combinations will have to be thought of once the decision comes out," the Indian skipper was quoted by NDTV.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will announce its decision on the matter on Friday.
