Chennai, Oct 22 (IBNS): A flamboyant 138 by Virat Kohli helped India bounce back in the ODI series against South Africa as the side defeated the visitors by 35 runs here on Thursday.

Posting 299 for eight on the scorecard, India restricted the opponents at 264 for nine in their quota of 50 overs.

AB de Villiers' magnificent knock of 112 runs could not help his side much as it fall short of reaching the winning score.

He hammered 10 boundaries and a six in the innings.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar remained the pick of the Indian bowlers as he picked up three wickets while Harbhajan Singh took two wickets.

The magic of Indian innings was in Kohli's smashing 138 off 140 balls. He hit six boundaries and five sixes in the innings which cemented India's chance of reaching a high score.

Ajinkya Rahane (45) and Suresh Raina (53) remained significant contributors for the side.

India leveled the series 2-2 with this victory.
