New Delhi, Oct 20 (IBNS): Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag turned 39 on Friday as several Indian cricketers, both former and present, showered wishes on him.

Sehwag, who is mostly remembered for his aggressive batting, was an opener for India in all formats of the game.

He was the first Indian batsman to hit 300 runs in one test innings. The aggressive opener had a destructive 309 runs innings against Pakistan in Multan in 2004.

Later, he bettered his top score in test cricket against South Africa by scoring a 319 runs innings in Chennai.

In both test and ODI careers, Sehwag has scored 7000 and above runs.

Sehwag has also scored a double hundred in his ODI career. His highest run in ODI is 219.

Sehwag also captained in few matches for India when he was the deputy of then skipper Rahul Dravid in the team.

Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly, who had first promoted Sehwag to the opening slot, tweeted on Friday saying: "Many many happy returns of the day sir... @virendersehwag ,happy birthday to you.....U are kohinoor of indian cricket nvr forget ur style."

Indian spin-all rounder Ravindra Jadeja compared him to crackers. "Crackers To Yuhi Badnaam Hain, Asli Dhamaaka To Virender Sehwag Karte Hain. #HappyBirthdayViru. Most Destructive Batsman Ever."

Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar posted a tweet in a unique and hilarious manner. He has shared a picture on Twitter captioning it with letters upside down and the reason for such thing is laughable.

Former Indian captain and legendary spinner, Anil Kumble, tweeted:"Many Happy returns of the day @virendersehwag . Have a great year ahead!"

Indian batsman Ajinkya Rahane posted a tweet where he regretted for not getting the chance to witness a triple century from the non-strikers end. "Happy bday @virendersehwag Thanks for teaching us the meaning of the word Fearless!Wish I could have seen one 300 from the non strikers end!"
