CSIA bags the prestigious National Tourism Award for the ‘Best Airport in Metro Cities’

Mumbai, Aug 1 (IBNS): Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA) received the prestigious National Tourism Award 2014-15 under the category of ‘Best Airports in Class X (metro) Cities’ at a ceremony held at the Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi.

The esteemed award, presented by Speaker of Lok Sabha Sumitra Mahajan was conferred to CSIA for contributing immensely towards the promotion of tourism in Maharashtra and India.

With over 190 flights operating daily, the Mumbai International Airport administered CSIA,  offers convenient and seamless air connectivity to passengers with more than 85 destinations in the country and globally. MIAL’s endeavours have tenaciously been directed towards placing CSIA on the map of the world's best airports and as a result, it created a global icon - the new Terminal 2 that provides an unparalleled experience to travellers.

CSIA, currently ranked as the World’s Best Airport, introduced prodigious features like the concept of a common lounge (GVK Lounge) for premium passengers, dedicated Meet & Assist services (Pranaam), the Mumbai Airport T2 application and the Art Museum (‘Jaya He’), to enhance experience of travellers transiting through the airport.

Furthermore, CSIA is the only airport in the world to handle maximum flight movements on a single runway. Its solicitous contribution towards the environment and its sustainability has also been tremendous and efforts have been made for developing a conducive eco system.

The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India presents the National Tourism Awards to various segments of the travel and tourism industry every year. The Award for the ‘Best Airport’ category was designated for the Airport in India providing top notch facilities to passengers and guests. The major criteria for selection included creation of tourist friendly infrastructure, maintenance and upkeep of the Airport, adaptation of eco-friendly practices, traffic management system, availability of transport facility and facilities for the passengers with special needs, etc. CSIA emerged victorious across all these parameters.

CSIA has certainly evolved as the finest airport in the World and will continue to serve its stakeholders with world class professionalism.
