Grounded for 3 years, Jet Airways to resume commercial flight operations

New Delhi/IBNS: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has granted license to Jet Airways, grounded for three years, to resume commercial flights.

The airline was granted the air operator certificate (AOC) after completing two proving flights.

With DGCA officials onboard, the airline has successfully operated five proving flights (a total of five landings) on May 15 and 17.

Jet Airways suspended operations in 2019 after the airline's then promoters failed to provide liquidity. Following this, the insolvency resolution process started for the airline in June 2019.

The airline in its earlier form was owned by Naresh Goyal and had operated its last flight on April 17, 2019. The Jalan-Kalrock Consortium is currently the promoter of Jet Airways.

The airline plans to restart commercial flight operations in the July-September quarter this year.
