Kashmir witnesses 20.5 lakh visitors footfall in first eight months of 2022

Kashmir witnessed the footfall of  20.5 lakh visitors, including 3.65 lakh Amarnath yatris, during the first eight months of the current year.

The tourism department expects more footfalls in the next two months when the country will be celebrating various festivals.

“16.84 lakh tourists, including 10,500 foreigners, visited Kashmir till August end,” a Tourism Department official told Deccan Herald and added that 3.65 lakh Amarnath yatris also visited to the Valley.

He said that the two million tourist footfalls is an all-time high for Kashmir and the number is expected to go beyond 2.5 million by the year end.

“Major tourist destinations like Pahalgam, ski-resort Gulmarg and Sonamarg as well as all hotels and guesthouses in Srinagar had 100 per cent occupancy till June end,” the official said.
