As youths lose jobs in Pakistan amid COVID-19 lockdown, their families protest outside Punjab Governor's house

Lahore/IBNS: With several youth losing jobs amid lockdown imposed by PM Imran Khan-led government to combat COVID-19 outbreak, their family members on Sunday protested  outside Punjab Governor Mohammad Sarwar's resident in Lahore.

Journalist Ravinder Singh Robin tweeted a video of the protesters and captioned it as: "After being rendered out of job due to #lockdown, the families of working youths have staging protests outside the Pakistan Punjab Governor @ChMSarwar 's house at #Lahore. They are hoping that their voice could reach up to the ears of Government. #coronavirusinpakistan #Corona."

Pakistan has witnessed a massive increase in the number of COVID-19 infected patients over the past few days.

The number of patients now stands at 3118.

The country has recorded 45 deaths so far.

Punjab's Primary and Secondary Healthcare department has confirmed 184 new coronavirus cases in the province taking the provincial total to 1,380, reported Dawn News.

According to a statement from the department, the patients have been divided into four categories: 309 pilgrims, 443 people associated with Raiwind Ijtima, 28 prisoners and 600 citizens, reported the Pakistan-based newspaper.

Lahore has recorded 260 cases.
