The video footage of five men torturing the woman went viral on social media platforms on Sunday and raised concerns among netizens, reports Dhaka Tribune.

Locals told the newspaper the incident took place at a certain Noor Islam’s house in Khalpar area of the upazila 20/25 days ago. However, they were unsure about the exact date of the assault.

After the video went viral, police detained a youth named Abdur Rahim, 22, for questioning, police sources  told the newspaper.

Begumganj OC Harun-or-Rashid told the newspaper: “We arrested a youth who was involved in the torture and five different police teams are working to arrest the rest.”
