Bloodshed in Balochistan: Security forces kill 70 militants in crackdown

At least 10 security personnel were killed and 58 militants died after ethnic Baloch separatists launched a large-scale coordinated attack across Pakistan’s Balochistan province on Saturday, according to media reports.

The incidents mark the latest surge of violence in the insurgency-hit region.

“Fitna-al-Hindustan carried out attacks at 12 locations across Balochistan,” sources told Dawn News, adding that the assaults were foiled due to timely and effective action by security forces.

Balochistan, a mineral-rich southwestern province bordering Afghanistan and Iran, has witnessed a sharp spike in militant attacks in recent months. Armed groups in the region have frequently targeted state security forces, foreign nationals, and non-local residents.

Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti said that security forces had killed 70 militants in operations across the province over the past two days.

“These attacks will not break our resolve against terrorism,” Bugti wrote on X.

According to Dawn News, mobile phone services remained operational in most areas, though data services were suspended in Quetta, Sibi, and Chaman following the attacks.

In August 2025, the United States designated the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) and its Majeed Brigade as Foreign Terrorist Organizations.
