Dhaka/UNI: Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday said Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has advanced to a "three-dimensional force" with the induction of helicopters.

Hasina participated in the induction ceremony of two MI71E helicopters purchased for the BGB Air Wing.

"The BGB has now evolved into a three-dimensional force like other forces," she said.

Hasina hoped the helicopters will help in making the overall activities of the BGB more dynamic.

"The BGB can swim in water, run on land and fly in air to protect the sovereignty of the motherland and fulfill its responsibilities."

She called the development a matter of great pride and joy for the people of the country in the year of Mujib.

The BGB guards international border areas of Bangladesh with India and Myanmar.
