Sydney, Nov 3 (IBNS): Warning its citizens, Australian government on Friday said it has  ‘reliable information’ that terrorists ‘may be planning’ to target Western interests in Bangladesh.

The Australian government said there is a high threat of terrorist attack in the Asian nation.

"There is a high threat of terrorist attack in Bangladesh. There is reliable information to suggest militants may be planning to target Western interests in Bangladesh," read a statement issued by the Australian government.

"Stay alert and maintain an active awareness of your environment. Ensure you have robust security plans in place," it said.

The statement further said: "The level of our advice has not changed. Reconsider your need to travel to Bangladesh."

Bangladesh had witnessed a major terrorist attack last year when a cafe in capital Dhaka was attacked.

The terrorist attack incident had left 20 people dead.

The deceased included foreign nationals.
