Key Taliban member killed in Afghanistan

Kabul/IBNS: Afghanistan security forces have killed a key Taliban group member, who was one of the prominent members of the Red Unit of the group, in the country's Wardak province, media reports said.

The 203rd Thunder Corps in a statement said the Taliban militants attacked the security posts in Jalriz district of Wardak province, Khaama Press reported.

The statement further added that the security forces effectively responded to the attack, killing one Taliban militant and wounding two others.

The Taliban militants lost one of their key group members, Qari Zalmai alias Ansar, who was in charge of manufacturing roadside bombs besides being one of the key members of the Red Unit of the group, reported the news agency.

The group did not comment on the matter so far.
