North Korean leader Kim Jong Un receives 'excellent' letter from Donald Trump

Pyongyang, Jun 23 (UNI) North Korean leader Kim Jong Un received a personal letter from US President Donald Trump, state media KCNA reported on Sunday adding that the letter has 'excellent content', which the DPRK leader read along with his military read with 'satisfaction'.

The state-owned Korean Central News Agency stated, 'Kim Jong Un, chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea, chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and supreme commander of the armed forces of the DPRK, received a personal letter from President of the United States of America Donald Trump.'

The White House didn’t immediately comment on the letter.

The correspondence emerged as China’s President Xi Jinping told Kim that the world wanted him to make progress in nuclear talks with the United States, underscoring Beijing’s key role in negotiations.

The Chinese president said during a landmark visit to Pyongyang on Thursday that he is willing to play a "positive and constructive role" toward achieving the denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula, the official Xinhua News Agency said.

Xi travelled to North Korea a week ahead of a planned meeting with Trump on the sidelines the Group of 20 summit in Japan, in what’s shaping up to be a possible turning point in the trade war between the world’s two largest economies.

China’s role as North Korea’s vital trading partner and sole security backer gives Xi leverage in his talks with Trump.

"Appreciating the political judging faculty and extraordinary courage of President Trump, Kim Jong Un said that he would seriously contemplate the interesting content," KNCA added.
